Design Showcase: Awarding the Awarders

At AJ – we are often approached by clients seeking to dial up the energy and excitement around their employee recognition initiatives. While engaging in discovery for this particular program, one fun and unique aspect stood out to us—these awards were created by the employees themselves.

In order to strengthen and honor the relationship the authors had with this initiative, we based the visual center around the concepts of architecture, blueprints, and prototyping. This diagrammatic approach visually reinforced the notion that the platform was built from the ground up by and for the employees—and instilled a sense of agency and personal ownership that drove lasting support and participation.

Seen in the initial style frames above – the isometric angle, modular grid, and exploded diagram established a “hands-on” aesthetic and informed how the “building” concept was pulled through the animation. The combination of styles also allowed us to move beyond the flat environment and add levels of dimensionality that draw the community into the world they helped create.
